Pictures that reach 360 degree field of view horizontally and 180 degree vertically are called "360 spherical panorama". But when a panoramic image has reached 360 degree in horizontal FOV, but less than 180 degree vertically, we call it "360 cylindrical panoramas". 360 Panorama is usually stitched by image stitching software, such as Panoweaver, it stitch photos together into one panoramic image. To create panoramic pictures covering 360 degree field of view with least number of photos, you may use: Digital camera + Fisheye lens + Panoramic Head + Tripod.
